MAY 2022 HOLIDAY RALLY
Another superbly organised rally arranged by the club secretary. 15 nights and 4 campsites around Cumbria and the lake district with 20 motorhomes and 2 caravans attending.
The first site was at Kirkby Stephen where we were welcomed with tea and cakes. Lots of walks around this area and the coast to coast walk runs through the town. A meal was arranged one night in the bar/restaurant on the site. A coach trip was organised on one day to take us to the Wenslydale creamery and a visit to Hawes market town for lunch before our return journey via a scenic route past the highest pub in Britain, the Tan Hill Inn.
The second site was at Silloth for 3 nights, this site was 5 minutes walk from the sea and had a sister site that had attractions we could use. On one night a local hall was booked for a meal and entertainment by a local singing duo.
The third site was at Maryport a short distance down the coast, this was on a marina campsite walking distance from the town with some interesting museums and a Roman fort to visit.
A cumberland sausage and bacon roll morning was arranged and a cheese and wine evening on our last night on the site.
The last campsite was at Bardsea for 4 nights. A day trip was organised to the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway where we boarded a full size steam train to take us to the lakeside station and transfer to one of the Windermere steamers to take us to Bowness where we could have lunch before taking a coach trip via a scenic route around the lakes back to Bardsea.
On the last day we were treated to afternoon tea at a village hall to celebrate a members big birthday.
